For the latest on each house, please click on the links above. To find additional pages such as Home Help, click on MORE. I've added several new websites for math facts work, submitted by parents!! This site allows either online work or the option to print out sheets. Also, checkout the 5th grade Cardboard Challenge where our GT 5th graders did well! Go to "More" on the links across the top to see photos.
Muffin Mornings this week...........
This is the 4th week of October. This week students who have individual affective goals will meet on Wednesday at 7:30. They will get their tickets today (Tuesday.) Since we are not in school on Friday, the group of students wanting to discuss perfectionism will meet on Thursday at 7:30. To get in, go to the back door, by the kinder and pre-school doors. Someone will be there taking tickets to get in. Remember if your student looses their ticket, just write a note. |
Would your student like to be published or compete in individual type contests?
I have added a page called Competitions and Publishing where I will add a variety of different types of competitions or publishing opportunities. These are all individual type things, where students send in entries on their own. So far, I've not come across any team competitions for the elementary grade levels. For more information, go to the page by going to the page under "More..." or from this link. |

Parent Conferences to be held Oct. 12th in the afternoon or anytime on October 13th. I would like to use this time to confirm our ALP Academic and Affective goals and sign-off. For this reason, I need every family to attend a conference on either of these days or within the coming weeks. To find a conference time, go to:
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b4eaaaa2fa3f85-fall1 for Thursday or Friday. (While other teachers have Monday, October 9th times, I do not since I do not work on Mondays.) |
Muffin Mornings to begin this Friday. Those students who have "leadership" as their goals will attend this coming Friday at 7:30 am. If your child has chosen this goal he/she will have a ticket given out tomorrow, 10/4/17. I will supply the muffins and the lesson on what leadership is and what it looks like. I will station a student at the "back door" by kinder rooms to let students in. They should bring their "ticket" as a hall pass.
Student "Take Home" GT folders sent home today! In an effort to get you graded papers from our classes, students will bring home a GT folder every Tuesday. Please go through it, taking papers out and sending back the folder. Because I have students on Wednesday, as well. They should bring that folder to our class when they come on Wednesday. If you need to send me something, just put it in the folder and I'll check that every Wednesday! GT Houses at BCES
GT classes at BCES are arranged into academic focused "houses" this year, much like the houses in Harry Potter. As part of our celebration of the 20th anniversary of 20 years of Harry Potter, we will adopt several of the Hogwarts characteristics. Instead of Hogwarts, we are the Brush Creek Academy of Critical Thought.
While houses are loosely arranged in grade levels, most of them encompass at least 2 grade levels. K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. However, not all are multi- aged AND those aren't the only grade levels taught in those houses. We will really be stretching the limits according to student needs and our school goal of "personalized instruction for all."
